Amos Lee is the bomb!
Honestly, every time I think about this concert a smile comes to my face, I don't even know what to say. I loved every minute of it, SYML has such a unique voice and his songs, even the sad ones, make you feel good. The way he changed up some of his older songs, specifically Bottom of the Barrel, on the album I really was just lukewarm on it but the way they blues'd and souled it up (and yes I know those aren't real words and since Ryan was an English major he probably cringes at these made up words) really was fantastic. He's so versatile, one song is a gut-wrenching soulful number then the next one is almost Country. The concert was fun! I want to see him again, he sang Tyrone, an Erykah Badu song, how unexpected was that?? But he knocked it out. If I had to complain about one thing is there were a few of his own songs that I would have loved to have heard him sing, specifically Mama Sail to Me and May I Remind You that he didn't sing (I know he can't sing every song but I'd rather hear his music than someone else's). And it all seems natural, doesn't seem like he's trying to be something he's not, he just sings and whatever the genre is he makes it work. This was my second time - first time was in October in Clearwater FL and he didn't have his band with him. That was a spectacular show too because there was no flash and dash, it was just a man and his guitar and he killed! I was floored honestly to the point that I HAD to see him again and drove 8 hours to Atlanta to do so.
